Passports must be valid for at least three months from the date of entry and should remain valid throughout the intended stay. Ensure that the passport is undamaged and contains a blank page for entry and exit stamps. Check that immigration officials stamp the passport on arrival, as travellers without an entry stamp may experience difficulties when leaving Morocco.
Passport and visa regulations are subject to change, and airlines may have different requirements. Information is correct at the time of writing; travellers should check with the relevant embassy before departure, particularly when transiting through a third country. Citizens of many countries may visit Morocco without a visa for tourism, generally for stays of up to 90 days. These include nationals of Australia, Canada, China, Japan, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, the United States and EU member states. Different permitted stays apply to certain nationalities.
Some nationals who do not require a visa must obtain an Electronic Travel Authorisation to enter Morocco (AEVM) before travelling. Visitors should check the requirements applying to their nationality and passport through the official Accès Maroc portal.
For eligible applicants, a standard electronic visa costs MAD770, while express processing costs MAD1,100. Fees are non-refundable. Charges for visas issued by an embassy or consulate vary according to the applicant's nationality, visa type and number of entries and should be confirmed with the relevant diplomatic mission.
An electronic visa is valid for 180 days from the date of issue and permits a single stay of up to 30 days. A consular short-stay visa may permit a stay of up to 90 days; its validity and permitted number of entries are stated on the visa.
Eligible applicants can apply online through the official Accès Maroc portal. Travellers who are not eligible for an electronic visa should apply to the Moroccan embassy or consulate responsible for their country of residence.
Electronic visas are normally issued within 72 working hours using the standard service or 24 working hours using the express service. Processing times for applications submitted through an embassy or consulate vary and may take several weeks, so applicants should apply well before travelling.
